The Ambassador
Marco Rago is an Italian attorney. Born in Naples, he studied law at Federico II University and registered with the Council of the Bar Association of Rome in 1993. Marco Rago has been legal advisor for economic diplomacy and development to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation since November 2022 and served as legal advisor for the president of the Committee for the candidacy of the city of Rome to host the Universal Exposition 2030.
Since 2023 he has been the Italy’s substitute delegate at IILA – Italian Latin American Institute.
Since January 2024 he has been a member of the Joint Olympic Council for the Milan – Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
Since 2024, he has been collaborating with the table for the international humanitarian aid program Food for Gaza.
Marco Rago has been General secretary of the Permanent Observatory on international issues of Eurispes since 2019.
He also serves as a federal Judge for the President of the Federal Court of Appeal of the FIN – Italian Swimming Federation – since 2014.
From 2020 to 2022 he was a member of the disciplinary panel of LEN, the European Swimming League.
He was appointed head of international development cooperation programs of the international Organization I.I.L.A. – Italian Latin American Institute – from 2009 to 2014.
Marco Rago was appointed Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the United Nations in Rome in 2023.
